Be Accessible to Submitters
To foster a positive reputation for your event within the FilmFreeway community, whenever possible, try to respond to submitter inquiries promptly. If a submitter has a question about FilmFreeway functionality, feel free to refer them to FilmFreeway Support. We will be there to help immediately.
Keep Your Listing Up to Date
Your submitters will often refer to your FilmFreeway listing for the most up-to-date information about your event and call for entries. If anything changes, easily update your listing by going to My Festival > Edit. In the event of a major change to your event, please contact FilmFreeway Support.
Add Photos to Your Listing
Listings with high qualify photos from past events perform considerably better. Photos are a great way of showing submitters what they can expect to experience if they are fortunate enough to be selected for your festival.
Check Your Account Regularly
We recommend checking your account daily for new submissions or account updates from FilmFreeway.
Notify Submitters Before or On Your Notification Date
Submitters using FilmFreeway expect to be notified of their submission’s final Judging Status on or before your listed Notification Date. Be sure to update the final Judging Status of all submissions by your Notification Date. Even if you notify submitters by another means, updating the final Judging Status of submissions within FilmFreeway is an important requirement.
With FilmFreeway, you can even create custom submitter notification emails if you like. Just go to My Festival > Manage > Submitter Notifications.
Invite Your Contacts
Easily upload your contacts and invite filmmakers and past participants to submit their work to your festival with a beautiful custom email - right from your account. Go to My Festival > Manage > Invite Contacts.
Create Promotional Codes
Enjoy an instant boost in submissions by creating and sharing custom discount codes on Twitter, Facebook and email to encourage even more entries to your event. To create a discount or waiver code, go to My Festival > Manage > Discounts & Waivers.

Create Category Qualifiers
Category Qualifiers allow you to restrict entries specifically by Project Type, Runtime, Page Count, Project Origin, and Student Projects. You can even require that submitters input a special password to be eligible to submit to certain categories if you wish. Category Qualifiers ensure that only relevant and appropriate projects are submitted to your respective categories.
To add Category Qualifiers go to My Festival > Edit, then click Advanced Qualifiers in the details section of any category in Section 4.
Create Sub-Accounts for Your Judges and Staff
You can easily create sub-accounts for all your festival’s staff and judges by going to My Festival > Manage > Manage Users. You can also customize exactly what roles and site permissions you’d like each of your sub-users to be able access within your festival account.
